Homeowner Questions

General Questions

I have an emergency, what do I do?

We suggest you contact us so we can help you assess what needs to be done. The more information you can provide when first contacting us the better, so please take notice of the type of damage and how severe it appears to be. After contacting us, please review the emergency tips section to see how you can help mitigate damages.

Does my insurance cover this?

We can often advise homeowners on the best route to take and if insurance coverage is likely. Of course, the final say comes from the adjuster.

Water Damage

How long will this equipment be in my home?

When you have a water damage loss, it is necessary to install drying equipment to dry the various materials before mould has a chance to grow in your home. This drying can often take 3-4 days, but materials such as hardwood floors often take longer.

Can I turn off the equipment/Should I leave the drying equipment running the whole time?

We highly recommend that you leave the drying equipment running throughout the entire process. We like to use the analogy that when the drying has commenced it is similar to a train going uphill, in that if you shut off the equipment you have stopped the train, and thus it takes longer to complete the process. Obviously there are times when the equipment has to be shut off; we will advise you which machines can be shut off and how it affects the drying job.

Can I move the drying equipment around?

We ask that you do not attempt to move the drying equipment. We train our technicians to place the equipment in positions that will allow for the most efficient drying process. Additionally, our technicians will visit every 2-3 days to determine progress. At this time, if they are able, they will re-position or remove equipment as needed.

Will mould grow?

Mould needs the right conditions to progress to a dangerous stage. By employing proper drying methods, mould development is not allowed to advance.
